55 EMBS ARRIVES AT POLAND!

After 34 years and for the second time in history, European Marine Biology Symposium (EMBS) comes again to Poland on 19 – 23 September 2022. It is hosted by the University of Gdańsk, in the modern building of the Faculty of Law and Administration in the Baltic Campus in Gdańsk-Oliwa.


The conference is organised under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the University of Gdansk, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, and under the patronage of the Polish Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research

55 EMBS resumed after a two-year COVID-19 lockdown

After a two-year pause due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic worldwide, the Organising Committee of 55 European Marine Biology Symposium jointly with the EMBS Steering Committee has decided to restore the conference that will be held on September 19-23, 2022 in Poland.

Marine biologists, naturalists, explorers, and all enthusiasts of biological research of the World Ocean are welcomed again in beautiful and historical Gdańsk!

Due to potential international travel restrictions, quarantine rules or for personal reasons some participants might not be able to travel so, the conference will be held in a tandem-hybrid format: all in-person sessions will be transmitted online with option to ask questions via the moderated chat for virtual attendees.

Eco-friendly meeting

European Marine Biology Symposium in Gdańsk intends to follow philosophy of conservation and sustainability that was the used by the organisers of the previous conference in Dublin in 2020. 55 EMBS makes efforts to become an environmentally friendly meeting by implementing sustainability practices such as reduction of single-use plastic, use of local food, electronic book of abstract and no conference materials.
