Venue and transportation

The conference will be held in the Faculty of Law and Administration building, University of Gdańsk (UG), which is located within the Baltic Campus in Gdańsk. The Baltic Campus is the main campus site of the university and home to the Faculty of Biology, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Faculty of Languages and Literatures, the Faculty of History, the Faculty of Mathematics, the Faculty of Physics and Computer Studies and the Faculty of Social Sciences. It also contains the Main University Library, student dormitories, and the University Administration. The University of Gdańsk Baltic Campus in Oliwa is the site of one of the most substantial investments in Poland, co-financed by the European Union, from the resources of the European Regional Development Fund, as well as the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Fund (Priority Axis 13).

The University of Gdańsk was founded on the 20th of March 1970, marking the 20th of March 2020 as the 50th anniversary of the founding of the University of Gdańsk, at present, the largest university in the Pomeranian region. The 55th European Marine Biology Symposium fits in the 50th anniversary ceremonies and is organized under auspices of the Rector of the University of Gdańsk.

There are direct international flights to Gdańsk from several capitals, as well as bigger cities in Europe. The Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDA) is located ca. 13 km from the Baltic Campus of the University of Gdańsk in Gdańsk-Oliwa. The best options available for the trip from the Gdańsk Airport to the Baltic Campus are by regional train (REG) or city bus. The train and bus stops are located just outside the terminals.

The regional train operates regularly from the airport to the railway station in Gdańsk Strzyża (directions to Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, (ticket ca 3.80 PLN)), from here the Baltic Campus is just a 20 min walk. Train tickets are on sale at small ticket-machines on the platform, or from a conductor. There is also a tram connection (no 5, 6 and 12), from the railway station in Gdańsk Strzyża: from the tram stop in Zamenhofa, to the tram stop in Bażyńskiego (trip duration ca. 5 min, ticket 3.80 PLN), from Bażyńskiego, the campus of Gdańsk is a 4 min walk.

City bus (no 110) operates regularly from the airport to the railway station in Gdańsk Wrzeszcz. Further trips are by local train (SKM), to the railway station to Gdańsk Przymorze-Uniwersytet (ticket 3.80 PLN). The Baltic Campus is located within walking distance (ca. 6 min).

Getting from Gdańsk Główny railway station to The Baltic Campus Oliwa

The Gdańsk Główny railway station is located ca. 8 km from the Baltic Campus of the University of Gdańsk in Gdańsk-Oliwa. The best option is to take a local train (SKM), to the railway station of Gdańsk Przymorze-Uniwersytet (trip duration ca. 11 min, ticket 5.40 PLN). The Baltic Campus is located within walking distance (ca. 6 min).
